Common Questions:

Neuropsychological Evaluation

Who performs these evaluations?

The evaluation will be performed by a licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist who specializes in the area of brain and behavior relationships. The Doctor will spend some time taking with you about your medical, personal, vocational and school history. The Doctor may also ask you for permission to speak to a relative of yours in order to obtain additional information about your day-to-day level of functioning .

How long does the Evaluation take?

Typically, evaluations last anywhere from four to six hours. Longer evaluations of six to eight hours are sometimes needed in special cases. Evaluations are sometimes divided into several appointments. You are free to take as many breaks during the evaluation as you would like. We strive to make you comfortable.

What happens after I take all these tests?

At the end of testing, each individual test must be scored, then all the tests must be interpreted based on your unique age, medical, vocational and school history. The interpretation is provided in the form of a consultation report that is submitted to your referring physician so that he can go over the results with you, much like he/she reviews other lab results with you.

In addition to discussing results with your referring physician, we encourage you to schedule a follow-up appointment with us so you can obtain additional feedback and recommendations about your neuropsychological functioning.
